SANDBOX de Luísa Salvador encerra o ciclo de programação do Pavilhão KAIROS, iniciado em Setembro de 2013, com propostas seleccionadas por open-call. Dando espaço de intervenção a gerações mais novas e alargando a programação a outras áreas disciplinares, depois de performances teatrais, musicais, intervenções da área da arquitectura e arte, Luísa salvador é a artista que até 20 de Julho nos fecha um capítulo do Pavilhão, abrindo as possibilidades da sua “manipulação” por parte dos observadores/participantes.
A 14 de Junho inaugura no Pavilhão KAIROS a instalação SANDBOX, com a presença da artista e da equipa curatorial. Uma apresentação e debate mais alargado acontecerá posteriormente numa conversa com o crítico Nuno Crespo, na Livraria Ler Devagar em data a anunciar. Este momento permitirá intensificar e alargar os diferentes olhares sobre a instalação patente e sobre a interpretação espacial do próprio pavilhão nas relações criadas com os visitantes.
Depois de Alberto Campo Baeza, Aires Mateus, e Pezo von Ellrichshausen, a actual programação dá voz às propostas seleccionadas por concurso aberto e pretende dar espaço a novos nomes e novas gerações reforçando assim o papel activo do Pavilhão KAIROS no cruzamento disciplinar e geracional.

AUDIENCE
O Pavilhão KAIROS dá continuidade à sua programação de propostas seleccionadas por concurso com a inauguração da instalação AUDIENCE, da autoria do Artista Plástico Hugo Barata.
Para assinalar a abertura ao público desta nova proposta, que poderá ser visitada até ao dia 01 de Junho, serão apresentadas duas performances musicais no dia 16 de Maio, integradas no calendário do Open Day da Lx Factory e apresentadas pelo SÓTÃO, com o título MERCÚRIO BOREAL e PROTO-SEGUNDO TRIANGULAR. As actuações acontecerão pelas 18h e pelas 21h. No dia seguinte, 17 de Maio a apresentação do projecto AUDIENCE acontecerá na livraria Ler Devagar com a presença do autor Hugo Barata e a participação especial da arquitecta e cenógrafa Sara Franqueira, num diálogo entre as artes plásticas, a arquitectura e a dimensão cénica desta proposta.
Depois de Alberto Campo Baeza, Aires Mateus, e Pezo von Ellrichshausen, a actual programação dá voz às propostas seleccionadas por concurso aberto e pretende dar espaço a novos nomes e novas gerações reforçando assim o papel activo do Pavilhão KAIROS no cruzamento disciplinar e geracional.
Os eventos, com entrada livre, realizam-se no Pavilhão KAIROS, dia 16 de Maio pelas 18h e 21h e na livraria Ler Devagar, Lx Factory, dia 17 de Maio pelas 18h30.

KAIROS FINALIST ON THE INTERNACIONAL COMPETITION WEISSENHOF
The architects João Quintela (Portugal) and Tim Simon (Germany), authors of KAIROS Pavilion, placed in Lisbon, were selected as one of the 5 finalists in the international competition released by Weissenhof Gallery, chaired by the architect Valerio Olgiati.
On the jury's report, it is underlined the enigmatic character of this project which as the opposite of the neutral white cube has the only propose of challenging his own use by receiving any type of interventions and, by that, extend his own expression in a dialogue with other authors.

IMPRESSION IN THE VOID
O Pavilhão KAIROS dá continuidade à sua programação de propostas seleccionadas por concurso com a inauguração da instalação IMPRESSÕES NO VAZIO, da autoria do Arquitecto Frederico Vieira Reis e da Artista Plástica Dalila Choro.
Para assinalar a abertura ao público desta nova proposta, que poderá ser visitada até ao dia 30 de Março, haverá uma apresentação na livraria Ler Devagar com a presença dos LIKEARCHITECTS, que irão apresentar alguns dos seus trabalhos e contribuir para uma reflexão mais alargada sobre as intervenções de carácter efémero no contexto do KAIROS.
Depois de Alberto Campo Baeza, Aires Mateus, e Pezo von Ellrichshausen, a actual programação dá voz às propostas seleccionadas por concurso aberto e pretende dar espaço a novos nomes e novas gerações reforçando assim o papel activo do Pavilhão KAIROS no cruzamento disciplinar e geracional.
O evento, com entrada livre, realiza-se na livraria Ler Devagar, Lx Factory, dia 15 de Fevereiro pelas 18h30.

PHILTRU+ TOSTADA ES PAN.
Inside the Associated Projects’ program by the Third Edition of the Lisbon Architecture Triennal ‘Close, Closer’, KAIROS Pavilion continues to present the selected proposals by the Open Call with the project PHILTRU by Marcelo Dantas, architect, co-founder of OSMD Architects and Teaching Assistant at Universidade Lusófona.
PHILTRU will be open from 7th December until 12th January 2014 and this presentation closes the first group of selected proposals from the Open Call included on this edition of the Triennal. The event will be further complemented with the last of three performances by the spanish group TOSTADA ES PAN, which has been working on KAIROS during the last few months creating a dialogue between the existing pavilion, the specific temporary interventions and their own performance.
Closing this semester's calendar and anticipating already the next one, this opening will allows us to take stock and reflect on the interventions that KAIROS pavilion had received during this first year of existence. For this, we will have the special participation of the curator and architecture critic JULIA ALBANI
The event, with free admission, will take place at Lx Factory, Lisbon, on the 7th of December at 6.30pm

JANELA TEMPORAL + TOSTADA ES PAN
Inside the Associated Projects’ program by the Third Edition of the Lisbon Architecture Triennial ‘Close, Closer’, KAIROS Pavilion continues to present the selected proposals by the Open Call with the project TIME WINDOW by the Portuguese architect Paulo Henrique Durão, recently distinguished by Wallpaper Magazine as one of the 20 most promising young architects of 2013.
TIME WINDOW will be open from the 26th October until the 29th November 2013. The presentation, which will be centered on the question of ‘Time’ in architecture, will have a tripartite conversation between the author, the physicist Paulo Pereira da Silva and the choreographer Tiago Guedes. The event will be further complemented with the second of three performances by the improvisation group TOSTADA ES PAN, which over the next few months will appropriate KAIROS Pavilion, creating a three dialogue between the existing pavilion, the temporary intervention and the performance.
The event, with free admission, will take place at Lx Factory, Lisbon, on the 26th of October at 6.30pm.

PRESENTATION: MONTAJE + TOSTADA ES PAN
We would like to invite you to attend October 5th the presentation of the current proposal in KAIROS pavilion: MONTAJE by the spanish architects Andrés Carretero, Pablo Alonso and Saúl Alonso. The presentation will feature a special participation of the architect Luis Santiago Baptista and will take place at the Livraria Ler Devagar at Lx Factory, by 18:30.
Then, at KAIROS Pavilion willl be presented the first performance of theatre group TOSTADA ES PAN, inserted in a set of three appearances that will happen intervening on each of the proposals submitted to KAIROS along the third edition of Architecture Triennial Lisbon: Close, Closer to which this schedule belongs as Associated Project.

MONTAJE is opening next Monday! It's a project by Andrés Carretero, Pablo Alonso and Saúl Alonso with the official support of the Spanish Embassy in Portugal.
Inside the program of the 'Close, Closer' Associated Projects, under the Third Edition of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale, KAIROS Pavilion is opening the first intervention of this new period for 2013.
After Alberto Campo Baeza, Aires Mateus and Pezo von Ellrichshausen, the new calendar gives voice to the selected proposals from the Open Call and intends to give space for new names and new generations reinforcing KAIROS active role into the disciplinary and generational cross.

A few days before the opening of 'Close, Closer' - Third Edition Lisbon Architecture Triennale, the KAIROS Pavilion is preparing the next intervention as an Associated Project.

Após a primeira fase de programação na qual foram apresentadas as propostas de intervenção dos arquitectos Alberto Campo Baeza, Francisco e Manuel Aires Mateus e ainda Pezo von Ellrichshausen, o Pavilhão KAIROS dará início a uma nova programação já a partir de Setembro de 2013 com propostas seleccionadas através do open call lançado em Março deste ano dando assim seguimento aos seus propósitos iniciais de criar uma 'plataforma pública, livre e aberta à participação e apresentação de propostas a integrar o calendário e potenciar o encontro, interacção e cruzamento de diferentes áreas disciplinares'.
As propostas de intervenção foram analisadas por todos elementos do júri, a equipa KAIROS composta pelos Arquitectos João Quintela, Tim Simon e Fabricia Valente e os membros convidados, Arquitecto Luís Santiago Baptista, director da revista de arquitectura e arte ARQ/A e professor auxiliar convidado na ECATI-ULHT e Arquitecto Manuel Henriques, director executivo da Trienal de Arquitectura de Lisboa.
Os critérios de avaliação do júri estiveram assentes sobretudo na pluralidade de experiências propostas para a vivencia do Pavilhão KAIROS e na relação específica e intrínseca com as suas características. Foram também valorizadas as abordagens passíveis de contribuir para um discurso crítico e teórico que se pretende explorar através de iniciativas que decorrerão paralelamente.
Devido à qualidade geral dos trabalhos apresentados, decidiu-se alargar o período de apresentação de propostas para os próximos dois semestres possibilitando assim a apresentação de sete intervenções, sendo que as primeiras quatro integrarão o calendário do KAIROS e paralelamente farão parte da programação de projectos associados do 'Close, Closer - Terceira Edição da Trienal de Arquitectura de Lisboa', e as restantes farão parte do calendário do Pavilhão KAIROS para o primeiro semestre de 2014.
A calendarização e ordem de apresentações foram estruturadas em conjunto por todos os elementos do júri segundo critérios de exequibilidade, condições climáticas inerentes e pluralidade de temas e conteúdos apresentados sequencialmente. Não representa por isso uma ordem qualitativa.

KAIROS DISTÂNCIA CRÍTICA: Pezo von Ellrichshausen + Pedro Gadanho
Inside the programme CRITICAL DISTANCE and in partnership with the Lisbon Architecture Triennale, KAIROS Pavilion opens the last proposal for this year's first semester. After Alberto Cmpo Baeza and Aires Mateus, the art and architecture chilean's office Pezo von Ellrichshausen is now presenting his site specific intervention.
In order to make the opening of 'CRUX PAVILION' there will be a lecture of Pezo von Ellrichshausen and a debate with Pedro Gadanho. The south american architects whose projects have been largely published and distinguished, will do a first presentation of their work. Then, the portuguese architect and New York's MoMA curator Pedro Gadanho will establish a conversation and debate that will have the opening proposal as a starting point.
The event with free entrance has the Chilean Embassy's support and will take place on the 21st June, 7pm at Espaço XL in Lx Factory, (Lisbon).

After Alberto Campo Baeza and Aires Mateus, the Chilean office Pezo von Ellrichshausen will present CRUX PAVILION, opening on the 21st June at 7pm
On that day, as a co-production between KAIROS and the Lisbon Architecture Triennale, there will be a lecture at 'Espaço XL' from Lx Factory with Maurício Pezo and Sofía von Ellrichshausen followed by a debate with Pedro Gdanho

The deadline to receive proposals from the Open Call had finished last Sunday 12th May. Since this is a non-profit project that lives from specific and occasional partnerships, KAIROS Pavilion thanks very much to all who had sent their site specific and self paid proposals, mostly in our particular context.
The future of this project and the capacity to generate new possibilities depends definitely on the participation and involvement of those who want to contribute for a dialogue that we truly hope will be interesting and productive. That's the reason why we also want to thank so much to the guest juries Luis Santiago Baptista and Manuel Henriques.

Opening: ‘REFLECTIR’, Aires Mateus

KAIROS Pavilion, as a continuity with the partnership with the Lisbon Architecture Triennale started last year, is opening a new site-specific instalation now from the two portuguese architects AIRES MATEUS.
For this event where the proposal 'REFLECTIR' will be shown, there will be also a short visit and a presentation in KAIROS by Manuel Aires Mateus. The celebration will take place on Lx Factory's garden, in fronto of the pavilion, together with Jazz music and a glass of wine.
The event is part of the 'Lx Factory - Open Day', and will be at 7pm with free entrance.

Inside the programme CRITICAL DISTANCE and in partnership with the Lisbon Architecture Triennale, KAIROS Pavilion had opened this year's calendar last weekend with the presence of the first guest architect: ALBERTO CAMPO BAEZA.

Inside the programme CRITICAL DISTANCE and in partnership with the Lisbon Architecture Triennale, KAIROS Pavilion opens this year's calendar with the first invited architect: ALBERTO CAMPO BAEZA.
In order to make the opening of 'Uma Chuva de Sonhos', there will be a lecture KAIROS - Critical Distance: Alberto Campo Baeza + Manuel Aires Mateus. The Portuguese architect who will be the next one to present a proposal inside this space, will start a conversation with the Spanish architect who recently won the Henrich Tessenow Gold Medal 2013. The discussion will be focused in the central themes of their work.
Paulo Henrique Durão will make the presentation of the lecture and there will be released also the new book of Alberto Campo Baeza: Principa Architectonica, by Caleidoscópio.
The event with free entrance has the Spanish Embassy's support and will take place on the 13th April, 7pm at Espaço XL in Lx Factory, (Lisbon).

In order to adjust to the schedule of upcaming events, the invitation to send proposals to intervene in KAIROS pavilion was extended until May 12th, 2013. To promote multidisciplinarity, the competition is open for collaborations on different areas.
The calendar of the invited architectural offices' lectures and presentations will be soon announced.

Moving away from the institutional circuit of museums and galleries, KAIROS is intended to be public, free and open to all the participants and proposals that want to integrate the exhibition's calendar and by this generate the meeting and interaction between different and multidisciplinary projects.
The guidelines to participate and submit proposals will be released on this date.
NOVEMBER 16TH, 2012
The opening ceremony of KAIROS project, coordinated and presented by Fabrícia Valente, will be accompanied by the authors of the project, João Quintela and Tim Simon, a representative of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale and the administration of the precast concrete company Gracifer, partner in this project. It is followed by a music concert, especially created for KAIROS project, with João Caldas [piano], Mariana Nunes [voice] and also the Trio C3PO: João Miguel [oboe], Vítor Trindade [clarinet] and João Caldas [piano].
We will have the opportunity to toast with a glass of wine.

KAIROS pavilion will be presented for the first time during a João Quintela and Tim Simon's lecture for the colloquium 'De Fora no Interior', curated by Julia Albani. This international colloquium is organizes by Lisbon's Goethe Institute and is part of the official's 50 years commemoration of the Institute in Portugal.
